International Seminar - Carbon Capture and Storage -The Technology of Future

The British Consulate-General Chongqing collaborated with Chongqing S&T Commission and CPI Yuanda Environmental Protection Engineering Co. Ltd and cohosted an International Seminar - Carbon Capture and Storage -The Technology of Future on the afternoon of 22 Oct 2009.  

The half-day seminar brought together over 100 experts on CCS from government organisation, research institute and enterprises in China and more than 10 countries of the world including UK, USA, Austria and etc.to talk about the lasted progress, policy background and prospects of commercial use of the CCS technology.  

CCS technology is regarded as one of the key technology to tackle with global climate change.  This is the first time that the world cutting-edge technology on clean energy could be discussed in Southwest China.   It successfully raised the awareness among the potential users and policy makers in SW China about CCS, and created a platform for further communications and collaborations between SW China and other parts of the world.

Besides the seminar, the experts also paid a visit to Hechuan Shuanghuai Thermal Power Station Flue Gas Purification Lab.  This is the first carbon capture lab in SW China, which ranks No.2 in Asia and No.1 in China in terms of its ability to do tests with 30,000-60,000Nm3/h flu gas.
