China Tomorrow: IPR and Innovation Seminar Building Chongqing as a Model City for IPR Protection in an Open Economy (27/10/2009)
The British Consulate General Chongqing collaborated with Chongqing IPR Bureau and cohosted a China Tomorrow: IPR and Innovation Seminar at Hiltion on the afternoon of 22 Oct.
This seminar brought together local and UK and EU businesses, R&D institutions, government institutions and professionals to discuss current barriers to trade and R&D collaboration between the UK and Chongqing, highlight successful case studies of collaborations, and discuss how the UK and Chongqing could work together in the field of technology and innovation, contributing to Chongqing's efforts to develop into an Open Inland Economy fostering talent and technological innovation.
It was hoped the seminar will accelerate the exploitation of science and technology and push forward successful business collaborations between UK and Chongqing, and provide input to the Chongqing government's efforts to develop a model for IPR protection in China, leading to further policy and practical collaborations.
This seminar formed a follow-up activity to the UK Government's "China Tomorrow" programme, which aims to promote better understanding by UK and Chinese government, companies and research institutions about how to collaborate together in Research and Development (R&D), innovation and trade, including at the regional level in cities like Chongqing. The seminar was also a part of the national level International R&D Mission Conference being held in Chongqing on 22-23 October, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.
