Operations Director, UK Pavilion, World EXPO 2010

Key Responsibilities:
As the head of the operations function, the Operations Director shall work closely with the Pavilion Director to plan, mobilize and operate the UK Pavilion in the World Exposition 2010 held in Shanghai. The role incorporates facilities management and event management. He/she shall also be involved (supported by the operations team) in supporting VIP visits (e.g. Government officials) and to monitor performance of subcontractors to make sure DTZ delivers the highest level of service and make the UK pavilion one of the best pavilions in the Shanghai EXPO.
Phase I: Resources Planning
- Understand the objectives and future operation requirement
- Support the management team to coordinate with parties involved in the UK Pavilion project including FCO and British Council
- Support the planning of resources
- Be part of the procurement team to support selection and appointment of major service vendors
- Develop the handover program and procedure for taking over the newly completed pavilion
- Provide input regarding the design of the pavilion, from an operations perspective
Phase II: Mobilization
- Working with the UK project team, draft policies and procedures and the associated training program for facilities management, event management, health and safety and sustainability
- Recruitment of management team members
- Involved in the recruitment of key members of subcontracted services teams
- Agree on service delivery approach and service level agreements with subcontractors
- Develop the training program
Phase IIIa: Operations (training, rehearsal, handover)
- Ensure training is delivered effectively to the team and the on-site staff of subcontractors
- Lead the operational handover form the project management consultant
- Support the testing and commissioning of systems
- Rehearse the operations procedures, emergency handling, fire drill and incident management
- Establish working relationship with the EXPO bureau and other pavilions
Phase IIIb: Operations
- Utilise effective leadership skills to lead a team of in-house on-site staff and sub-contractors to ensure the pavilion’s operations runs smoothly.
- Working closely with the Pavilion’s program team to provide logistics support to the events and VIP visits.
- Lead to handover process after the closure of the EXPO
Qualifications/Skill required:
- Previous experience essential
- Experience of a fast pace dynamic environment
- Leadership skills
- Problem solving, and an ability to manage multiple tasks
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
- Understanding of facilities management
- Fluency in English and mandarin
