How to apply for a UK visa in China

Where can I get information?

You can find out whether you need a visa and how to apply through the VFS-Global website, www.vfs-uk-cn.com. They are a commercial company selected by the UK Border Agency and the British Embassy in China to administer the application process on our behalf.

The Visa Application Centre (VAC) also provides information, supplied and approved by the UK Border Agency, by e-mail and telephone. The telephone number is 400-821-1182 (Callers from anywhere in mainland China and callers will be charged for a local call) or +86-21-28939105 (Callers from Hong Kong & Overseas). Alternatively, please email on infopek.ukcn@vfshelpline.com or visit the VAC website, for more information www.vfs-uk-cn.com.

Please note that the Embassy and Consulates are unable to provide visa information to personal callers. Please contact VFS as described above.

Where can I get advice?

The VAC and its staff can’t give you advice on how to complete your application, or what type of visa you should apply for. If you need help with your application please visit the UK Border Agency's website, VAC website and for students the British Council website. For specific advice about the UK’s immigration rules and requirements, you may wish to consult a qualified professional immigration adviser or lawyer. In the UK, the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner provides a list of registered immigration advisers.

How do I submit my application?

Submit your application and your biometrics at one of the Visa Application Centres in China or make an online application at visa4UK.

Who decides whether I will get a visa?

UK Border Agency staff will process and decide your visa application. The VAC and its staff play no part in the outcome of your visa application. They cannot influence it in any way.  If any member of staff employed by VAC say they can influence your application, you should tell the British Embassy as soon as possible.
