Preventing weapons proliferation
The spread of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) poses a threat to the UK, China and the rest of the world. Increasingly, terrorists and criminal networks are trying to acquire these weapons.
With China and other partners, we are working to implement effective measures to control and prevent the spread of chemical and biological weapons, nuclear weapons and conventional weapons.
For more information on the UK’s approach, see the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s public website.
UK and China Co-operation
The UK and China have shared goals, especially as fellow Permanent Members of the UN Security Council. We have regular discussions with Government officials, think tank experts and academics.
We also support project work, often linking the UK and China’s finest think tanks to find common solutions to international problems. For more information on the UK’s Counter-Proliferation Strategic Programme Fund, please contact Second Secretary David Hall (dave.hall@fco.gov.uk).
