PROJECT: Public Emergency Preparedness and Response Seminars
INTRODUCTION
This project consists of two major seminars on public health emergency response systems, which will allow the sharing of knowledge, experience and good practice concerning preparedness to respond to health emergencies during large- scale activities between Olympic host countries. The aim is to improve both parties’ ability to respond to any major incident. The seminars will be held in Shanghai and Beijing in March and April 2008.

PROJECT: Postgraduate Medical Development Programmes
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project is to promote the development of professional relationships between Chinese and UK doctors. It will provide a series of high-profile fora on priority medical topics, at which doctors from the two countries can exchange ideas and experience and identify possible areas for further co-operation.

PROJECT: Managing Quality Services
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project is to improve the medical quality of services offered by Chinese hospitals by means of promoting the exchange of hospital managerial experience, as well as the development of medical service standards in China.

PROJECT: Healthcare Executive Leadership Programme (HELP)
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project is to enhance and support leadership development programmes for healthcare executives in China. It includes a number of fora on healthcare reform and hospital management, a series of training courses focusing on practical hospital management, and study tours for Chinese healthcare experts to the UK.

PROJECT: Clinical Pharmacy Management Education
INTRODUCTION
On-going healthcare reform in China is likely to result in changes to the key role of the hospital pharmacist and a shift towards stronger clinical pharmacy management systems. This significant change has implications for clinical pharmacy education in China.
The Clinical Pharmacy Management Education project will set up an education programme to provide an opportunity for pharmacy professionals in China to become familiar with current trends and best practice, drawing on domestic and international expertise.

PROJECT: Technology for Life Project
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of the Technology for Life Project is to drive interest and enthuse young Chinese people about technological developments in healthcare engineering. It will include a series of events for school teachers and students, with the theme of engineering in health. These will focus on all stages of the healthcare chain, from healthcare innovation and technical advances in instrumentation to the use of these advances in hospitals. Examples include robotics, tele-medicine, biomedical engineering and prosthetics.
