UK-China Projects

UK-China Projects

The Science and Innovation Network facilitates bilateral co-operation between the UK and China in a number of key scientific areas. This includes the organisation and implementation of a range of projects. From innovation and investment to the science needed to address major global challenges, these projects develop partnerships between Government Ministries, businesses and academic institutions whilst providing unique opportunities for research and development across a broad range of scientific fields.

Please see below for a list of current projects organised through the China S&I network and follow the links to find out more.

Innovation and investment - collaboration on innovation policy, projects and international missions to support international innovation, such as China Tomorrow programme and Knowledge Transfer Networks
• China Tomorrow – UK workshops and visits
• Innovation and sustainable and equitable development – policy research project
• Seminars and workshops on UK innovation and science policy

Manage work on research themes to benefit from new funding opportunities -(UK/Chinese/EU)
• Comparison of research costing and funding systems in the UK and China – the role of Full Economic Costs
• Opportunities created through several projects – e.g. soil microbiology and marine environmental management
• Space SME Mission
• Space Science Applications of Microsatellite Systems

Identify and promote what China “offers’’ in research and innovation partnershipraise awareness in UK, identify priorities:
• Application of bibliometric analysis of underpin research performance
• Missions and studies from UK including from Knowledge Transfer Networks

Better framework for University-led research partnershipexplore how universities could be enabled to develop a joint research agenda more effectively
• Policy development supported by bibliometric analysis
